“So they’re open to dating women 23 years younger than them but not someone their own age.On occasion, I’ll read an otherwise smart, funny, intelligent profile and then spot his preferred age range.
“While I might look and act like a young 41-year-old, if someone sets their search criteria to 35 to 40, they’ll miss me,” she says.
But Fischer admits that she too has discarded potential matches based on their age.
Age discrimination aside, there are other factors at play that make dating past 40 a challenge, no matter your gender. People in their 40s know who they are and what they want out of life.
It’s more difficult to connect with others when 40-somethings are so thoroughly entrenched in their likes, dislikes, habits, careers, family dynamics, friendship circles and larger communities.
